First Anniversary

This poem is the one I love best! I wrote it for my dearest hubby on our first wedding Anniversary!

My Husband dear, you are the best
Above and beyond all the rest
Our first year together has been a treat
All my memories are choclate sweet

I still remember the day we first met
Your dimpled smile did my heart get
Friends we became..the very best
Sometimes when we were together we forgot the rest!

From friendship to love our relationship grew
And then one fine day it all came true
January 22.. the day we became one
Amidst a family full of laughter and fun

This first year has been an awesome ride
Ups and downs..we took it all in our stride
You've been by my side through thick and thin
Making me laugh and giggle and smile and grin

I love you sweetheart, always have and will
Even when you're old and over the hill
Here's to us, thats you and me
May many more years together like this we see.

Why

This poem was written in 2000, I have it handwritten in a diary I used to keep at that time, below is the note I wrote at that time about the poem and then the poem itself.

" This poem was written by me during one of the lowest phases of my life. But it holds the promise of tomorrow too. This poem is not to make you sad, but to show us the error of our ways and to inspire us to make a better, hopefilled tomorrow "

Why do things happen as they do
Why do people behave that way too
Why do we feel, oh! so sad
Due to these things others do

Why do hearts break
Why do tears flow
Why is there deceit
Where did pure love go

There are things in this world no one knows
Questions that are never answered
God made people, he made them love too
But still hearts break & tears flow
Still there is deceit and love for show

Somewhere through the ages we've lost our way
Forgotten our path and gone astray
Let us love but once and true
Let us have faith in all we do

May He give us the strength and the fortitude too
To bear with a smile things people say
For remember,
Tomorrow is Another Day!
